Ministry Overview "The King's Daughters" is the name of our annual seminar for ladies. Its name is taken from Psalm 45, and we have hosted it since 1991. Every year on the third Saturday in September more than 500 ladies, teen girls, and "cameo's" (6-8th grade) attend this one-day seminar! Our ladies work all year long in prayer and preparation for this event, and it is a special honor to have women from all over Wisconsin and surrounding states in attendance! The seminar is primarily for Christian ladies, but we always present the gospel so that any lost ladies who attend can be saved.
Each year the seminar focuses on a different theme, but the purpose of the seminar is always to challenge the ladies to be Godly wives, mothers, and Christian servants. Sessions cover topics like soulwinning, prayer, forgiveness, separation, parenting, and the husband-wife relationship. Special sessions are held for pastors' wives, singles, and the younger girls. The speakers are Godly ladies from our own church, special keynote speakers, and pastor's wives from other area churches. There is always a good mix of inspirational challenges combined with practical instruction.
The seminar has many features that make it special for the ladies. Pastor King always writes a theme poem and gives a copy to each one. The Wyldewood orchestra puts on a brief afternoon concert. Inspirational choruses are sung, special music is presented, and funny skits between sessions help to lighten the day. "Lydia's Linens" is our name for the display and shopping area where the ladies can find resources like modest clothing, good music, crafts, and ministry helps like books, tapes, etc. The decorations are spectacular and the fellowship is sweet. We treat every pastor's wife who attends to a special luncheon and give them a gift from our church. Many who have come to one seminar have returned every year since! Our ministry to ladies is a vital part of Wyldewood Baptist Church, and "The King's Daughters" seminar is a big part of that ministry.
Biographical Information Jackie Clayton was born in LaCrescent, Minnesota and is the daughter of Rev. Howard and Virginia Nelson. Pastor Nelson pioneered churches in Wisconsin and served as the pastor of Wyldewood Baptist Church for 22 years. Jackie was saved at the age of six and has been involved in church ministry since childhood. She surrendered her life for full-time Christian service when she was a teenager and began a lifelong commitment to soulwinning. She attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Missions. Jackie returned to her home town and began serving in her father's ministry. In 1973, she met Richard Clayton, and they were married in 1974. Brother Clayton is the principal of Wyldewood Christian School, and together they have served the Lord through the ministries of Wyldewood Baptist Church for 23 years. Jackie is actively involved in the music ministry, directs the ladies' soulwinning group, and serves as the secretary of Wyldewood Christian School. She designed and markets the "Sled Skirt", a feminine alternative in active winter wear. The Claytons have been blessed with five children; four boys and one girl.
