Joe's Testimony

I am Evangelist Joseph L. Sturtz, born June 25, 1949.  Soon after I was saved at the age of 18, God called me to preach.  I answered the call of God and surrendered to go to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri in January, 1970.  Just prior to entering Bible College I met and married my wife, Ginger, in June of 1969.  While attending Baptist Bible College, when it was still strong on Bible standards and doctrines of the faith, God called me to internship at Bible Baptist Temple in West Bend, Wisconsin in 1975.  God used me as a song leader, Sunday school teacher, bus driver, Youth Director, and assistant to the pastor for the next two years.

Starting in 1977, I was pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church in South Beloit, Illinois for fourteen plus years.  I was twice elected as both the secretary and the president of the Wisconsin Baptist Bible Fellowship of preachers. I was truly grateful to these pastors for entrusting me with these important positions.  God also greatly burdened my heart for missions and church planting when the Wings as Eagles ministry flew several of us pastors to Monterey, Mexico in March, 1991.  In November of 1991, God led me to resign as pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church.  For the next two years I preached in over thirty different churches for special days, pulpit supply, and revival meetings.

In 1993, First Baptist Church of Park Rapids, MN voted to call me as pastor and with God’s call, I accepted.  Within a few months of being the new pastor, we sold the old church building and built a building on a new location.  In 1995, we had our opening dedication service, rejoicing in the fact that we were debt free.  In the thirteen years of being pastor there, the church was very active in the Bearing Precious Seed ministry which has been operating now for over twenty-three years; a Christian school which has been operating for over thirty-three years; and a fifteen minute Sunday morning radio program called the Way of Truth.  The First Baptist Church supports over thirty-eight missionaries, and the church sent my wife and I on a missions trip to Japan to visit three of the four missionaries we support there.  I am a strong advocate of faith promise missions giving.      After having preached for thirty-five years and having been pastor for over twenty-seven years, God has called me as an evangelist to encourage and support the pastor and stir and challenge the church to live a life that is well-pleasing to God.  With everything that God has invested in me, I have fully set out to give back to Him fruit that may abound to my account as He leads me to minister in churches here in America and abroad.

Recommendations:

I have known Brother Joe and Ginger Sturtz for more than 35 years!  He is a strong fundamentalist, and his many years of experience in the pastorate have given him a great zeal for ministering to the local church.  As an evangelist he is a true friend to pastors, and he knows how to be a genuine help to the entire congregation, calling churches back to a life of holiness, consecration to God and dedication to service.  We recommend him for youth camps, mission conferences, Bible conferences, revivals, and family conferences.     - Randy King, Pastor, Wyldewood Baptist Church, Oshkosh, WI

In this day of pluralism, progressivism, pragmatism and other baloneyism, there is a need for preachers who are sound in the faith.  I believe Joe Sturtz to be a sound, separated Baptist.  He has an exemplary family and a good moral record.   - Gary Williams, Pastor of Bible Baptist Temple, St. Joseph, Missouri

I have been pastor in the greater Milwaukee metropolitan area for over 27 years and have known the Sturtz’s for most of that time.  Joe has been pastor in WI and MN.  He has preached for our church, our fellowship and our youth camps many times.  He has always been well-prepared; his messages have been spiritually challenging and effective.  Joe’s wife and children have been exemplary through the years.  Brother Sturtz has never varied from the Word of God or compromised from sound doctrine.  I heartily recommend Evangelist Joe Sturtz.   - Dr. Clayton Jones, Pastor of Tri-County Baptist Church, Franklin, Wisconsin

I recommend Evangelist Joseph Sturtz.  He’ll be a blessing to every church because of his fine record of experience in being a pastor.  I whole-heartedly support him in this needed ministry to the local church, today, across the country.   -Dr. Larry Clayton, Evangelist 56 years
